Hi! Welcome back!
In his blog "Travels with Tom" posted on friday, August 22 (on http://www.daschle.senate.gov/travel_2003/August22.htm), South Dakotan Senator Tom Daschle tries to argue that the Native Americans in the country receive a very poor and inadequate health care under IHS.
Even though Tom starts of the argument with the mentioning of his state travels ,i.e., in first person, he quickly starts with the presentation of facts and reasonings other than his direct observations, right in the second paragraph. The reason his direct observations won't be convincing because lot of the readers like me are aware neither of the issue nor of his credibility. The use of statistical/research data establishes his ethos (because the common man are trusting the politicians lesser nowadays). And his effort to act against the injustice to the Indians, the people who chose him to represent themselves, strengthen his ethos. He smartly tries to win over the opponents, who won't love to give up majority good for the minority good, by extending the effects of neglected health of Indians on non-Indians.
The conditions of the IHS and the Indians due to poor health care invoke the emotions among the readers. There seems to be an appeal to the value of " basic health care for all". Yet from a critic's view the argument seems to be a part of his campaign, because the biggest paragraph in the blog is about his acts towards the injustice.

Hi! My name is Jignesh Shah. I am planning to major in Chemical Engineering with premed. But who knows I might change. And change to what? Well, don’t know yet. I did last two years of my high school at Evans HS, Evans, GA 30809. Before that I was in India. I love to play chess. If anyone wants to play chess, they can send me an AIM @ jaanekabse, and we can play @ yahoo games. AND yeah, I don’t talk too much (mostly because my English is very poor which you all will figure out from this blog).

So far I am having a great time at GA Tech. I have a great roommate! My roommate and I even wrote a poem on AIM regarding the fire alarm ringing at 1:00 in the morning. Did I mention about that I have cool professors? But, only thing that bothers me about tech is the poor food. I hate eating pizza every day! That too cheese! They do have veggie pizzas, but by the time I reach there (around 2:30 pm) only cheese pizzas are left!

Everything else rocks! Well so far. I forgot what else I was going to write ( oh, yeah I am very forgetful, especially the names. I even forgot not only the name of the blog that I created before but also what I wrote in it. So now I have to create another one and think-type again). I hope this blog to be a good-enough introduction.
